Project Title: Volunteering & Mentoring

Objective:
This project focused on composing an upbeat, engaging audio package and score for Way2Learn, an innovative prison education channel. The goal was to create an energetic and optimistic musical language that would complement the channel’s dynamic visual aesthetic while encouraging engagement with its educational content. A blend of modern synth soundscapes, driving band instrumentation, and organic orchestral elements was used to create a sense of forward momentum, accessibility, and modern learning.

Music Composition Approach:
From the outset, an upbeat and rhythmic approach was central to the musical direction. Electric guitars and rhythmic percussion formed the foundation of the score, allowing the music to retain a modern, energetic quality while providing a strong sense of momentum. These elements were woven into a vibrant, pulsing synth soundscape, while clarinet and violins introduced organic, human textures that grounded the digital elements and kept the overall sound approachable.

Detailed foley and sound design were integrated throughout the project to add a tactile and polished quality to the educational graphics. Crisp, hyper-realistic typing effects were layered heavily around on-screen text, creating an immediate auditory connection to the delivery of information. Swooshes, UI blips, and sweeping transition effects were also carefully designed to support the visual momentum of the channel, creating seamless transitions between scenes and reinforcing the pacing of the educational content.

The music and foley were written to closely follow the pacing and visual language of the educational modules. Rhythmic guitar riffs, pulsing synth textures and precise foley gestures were used to respond directly to movement on screen, allowing the audio to propel the imagery forward while maintaining its upbeat and encouraging character.

Channel Intro Music:
The channel intro featured a rhythmic, guitar-led passage designed to establish the project’s modern and optimistic musical identity. Vibrant synth textures, driving percussion and energetic violin counter-melodies create an immediate sense of momentum, introducing the channel’s visual world through a bright and engaging sonic palette.

Tone and Style:
The audio package was upbeat, energetic, modern and optimistic, drawing on electric guitars, rhythmic percussion, orchestral accents and rich synth environments to create a driving yet accessible sound. The detailed foley work and intricate transition effects give the project a tactile and polished quality that reflects the forward-thinking nature of the educational platform.

Technical Delivery:

• Delivered in stereo format for institutional broadcasting and digital distribution.
• Mixed for clarity, punch and dynamic balance, with emphasis on precise EQ carving to ensure the crisp typing foley, swooshes and subtle transition effects remained clearly defined within the dense rhythmic musical layers.
